OOC // ABCs Meme

Accent (or other vocal quirks; who are they voiced by?): Tetsuya Iwanaga's his VA; his voice gets deeper the more evil he's acting/feeling. Also tends to indulge in villainous emphasis.

Build (Fat, skinny, short, tall, muscular, etc): Malik's 5'9" and there isn't an ounce of fat on his body. Though muscular for his body type, he still comes across as skinny.

Colors (Either their favorites, or the ones they seem to wear or are otherwise associated with): Purples, golds - the colors of royalty.

Diet (and any allergies or religious / personal restrictions): Malik's a vegetarian. Growing up in the tombs, keeping animals for food wasn't practical, and once he left he just never acquired the taste - the texture bugs him. He tends to like foods with bold flavors: his favorite food is a common spicy Egyptian dish (koshary), but he's a bit of a snob when it comes to his meals so he's unlikely to enjoy anything too fatty or artificially-flavored. Not much of a sweet tooth.

Education: Homeschooled for 11 years on ancient Egyptian history, language, culture, mythology, prophecies - career training for Tombkeeping, basically. No formal education afterwards.

Family (Blood and otherwise): Deceased parents, adopted older brother, biological older sister. God knows how many fellow Tombkeepers & servants, but those aren't afforded the same consideration as his actual siblings.

Goods (Important things they own, or their overall material wealth): Malik's most prized possession is his God Card, the Winged Dragon of Ra. His most useful possession is the Millennium Rod. Aside from those, he's well-off in general back home: running a criminal empire has that fortunate side-effect. Fond of his motorcycle.

Hobbies: Malik needs an actual hobby. He's passively interested in absolutely everything but actively pursuing revenge alone. Indulges in long motorcycle rides and creating overly complicated scheme scenarios to ensure the punishment fits the crime.

Ignorance (Things they are particularly ignorant of or bad at doing): There is no such thing as downtime when you're Malik Ishtar. He can't relax, he can't honestly just enjoy being with other people. He has no idea how to not have a goal driving his life. Also, though he does enjoy figuring out how other people's minds work, he can't understand people who don't think like him - people like Yuugi, who'd never swear revenge, or Jounouchi, who duels on instinct because of warrior's pride.

Job (Past, current, future): Head and founder of a card-game mafia cult. Heir of the Tombkeepers, but he's taking some liberties with the job description.

Knowledge (What they've learned or taught themselves or learned outside of a formal education): Everything he's needed to know about the modern world - technology, culture, the best places to go for illicit activities. How to duel. Rodded himself into speaking several languages - the Ghouls are an international organization. How to drive a motorcycle. He was very studious the first year or so out in the world.

Love interests (Past, current, future): None. He hasn't had time for that sort of nonsense, though if necessary he wouldn't be afraid to flirt with anyone to get what he wants.

Music (What's on the character's ipod?): He'd profess to being a fan of things like jazz, but in secret he's a classic rock guy all the way.

Needs (Things they need to function normally): Security, normally embodied in the form of his brother Rishid. He'll start to unhinge if it starts looking like he's miscalculated - or is outright wrong. His opinions are not allowed to be incorrect.

Orientation (Sexual/romantic; where do they fall on the Kinsey scale?): I play all my characters without a set sexuality. Malik wouldn't think anything of attraction to another man, though.

Phobias (And nightmares, traumas, etc): This could take weeks. The dark, particularly being alone in the dark. Suffocation (stemming from how he sometimes feels in the dark). Being helpless. Being tricked/manipulated. Being alone (though that's the only time he can be himself). People seeing his back. Isn’t outright afraid of knives but they make him antsy. Failure.

Quarrels (Their rivals or things they struggle against): The Pharaoh and Mutou Yuugi - about equally, come this point, given that while the Pharaoh is his scapegoat for everything ever, Yuugi's the one who has actively one-upped him in every possible way. Unbeknownst to him, however, he's his own worst enemy. Literally.

Religion (or philosophy and superstition in general): Considers Obelisk, Osiris, and Ra to be actual Gods. Well-versed in the prophecies surrounding Atem's resurrection, though his interpretations thereof could use some work. Wouldn't claim he's outright defying God - instead, he's making fate and God work for him.

Scars (and other markings): Tombkeeper’s initiation scars on his back, markings below his eyes (though those are kohl). Has a bad habit of gritting his teeth, so he has a little scar from catching his lower lip between them once. If you look at his ears when the earrings aren’t in, the piercings are sloppy- they're self-pierced.

Talents: Inordinately charismatic. Intelligent, a skilled multitasker, opportunist extraordinaire. Can easily see the "big picture" of a scheme while also keeping tiny details in mind. Skilled duelist. Can drive a motorcycle at 74mph on a crowded highway while playing card games long distance with his arch-nemesis and still manage not to cause a fiery wreck, which I think we all can agree is a talent indeed.

Unconsciousness (The things even they don't realize they do): If he's sipping a drink with ice in it, chews the ice cubes as he thinks. Fidgets, in general. Jumps to conclusions. Smirks at inappropriate times.

Vices and Villainy: Malik has never been capable of empathy. Even as a kid he manipulated people he cared about, and he's only gotten worse. He thinks nothing of threatening to poison people and delights in his ability to control others' minds. Though he'd argue against it, he does seem to enjoy cruelty even without his darker half taking control. Underlings who fail are punished with death to tie up "loose ends".

Weaknesses (Things they always give into, things that hurt them more than usual, or things that they are really bad at): Though a coldly rational person, Malik's got a temper problem. Being contradicted ticks him off, and he's also convinced he's been handed the worst possible lot in life. He absolutely hates to lose, though he'll bounce back quickly to keep the loss from becoming absolute. Doesn't tolerate BS. You can probably get him to actually listen to you if you frame an argument with light/dark imagery.

XXX (Their overall 'rating' as a character, their level of sexual experience, or their predilections besides gender): PG-13 for violence, pushing R if his dark side comes out to play. None of that is sexual, however.

Yearnings (Their goals, wishes, desires): To finally be free of his duties as a Tombkeeper by usurping the Pharaoh's power and ruling the world - combining his need for dominance with his sense of wonder. Malik wants everything, because everything is awesome - and everything's been stolen from him by this stupid fate. Rinse, repeat.

Zoo (Their favorite creatures, any pets they have, any important creatures in their life or history): Before his Pokémon, none in particular. He's actually pretty bad with animals - would rather look than touch.
