Turn 006 // Voice to Rockets/Action

[There's a rumbling sound behind this feed, and Malik's voice is shaky too - he's currently riding shotgun in a garbage truck, with his Muk and a couple of Grimers in the back doing the honors.

But regardless of the broadcast quality, he sounds pretty insistent.]

Johto garbage detail. Report in.

We've got a schedule to keep, lest things get dirty.

[[ooc: Sorry if I'm jumping the gun getting the plot started this morning - unexpected traveling came up this week, and I'm heading home today prettttty much as soon as I hit "post", but wanted to get Johto's garbage leader out there beforehand. Feel free to forward-date to after any official plot kickoff, if there's one. ^____^;;;]]

[And Clive here is the one driving said garbage truck, speeding through the streets of Goldenrod as Malik makes his post to the network. There's rock music playing on the radio, as well, though the volume is low enough so that Malik won't have any problem conversing with other Rockets. Or Clive, for that matter.

Clive already knows all the police routes by heart; after all, he's working as an undercover police assistant, so he knows them better than any other Rocket. Therefore, he doesn't really require any assistance at all, but it's still nice to have some company, and who better than the Johto garbage leader?]

Was that pun intentional?

[Malik sits back in his seat, Gear dangling from his hand for easy access, and glances over with a smirk. He'd been meaning to work more with this particular young man, and then this mission'd come along - two birds, one stone, etc.

So in a show of companionship, he smirks.]

Do you doubt me?

[He chuckles.]

It did seem a little too blatant.

But anyway, it's been a while since I last saw you. What have you been up to lately?

Groundwork, mostly. Gaining "honest" employment.

[He rolls the word in his mouth to show there is nothing honest about his new job. This also would be the part where he brags about being a part of the Game Corner attacks, but yeah. Team property. Mum's the word.]

I suppose that's been enough to catch someone's attention.

Yourself?

[He's acting more composed than he feels: he hates not being able to actually spy on his underlings. But he's also tapping his fingers on his Gear in time to the music you've got playing. Should this plot succeed (whatever that'd take), it could be his chance!]

The same, mostly. I've recently taken on a mission to infiltrate the police force and gather some dirt on them, so I've been working on that.

[Which explains why Clive has been avoiding all those police routes like a boss without any prompting.]

Also, do you remember my Zorua, the small black and red fox Pokémon I showed you when we first met? She just evolved yesterday.

[He delivers that news in a particularly cheerful tone.]

[You're in with the police? Does he know how to pick his associates, or does he know how to pick them.

Malik looks quite interested by this update.]

Congratulations. I take it she's gained even more useful abilities? Your Pokémon were already quite the team.

[You know how to pick them very well, Mr. Ishtar!]

She certainly has! As you might recall, she was able to alter her physical appearance into any form she desired. But now, she's also gained the ability to alter reality itself.

[Surely Malik can understand why Clive is so excited about this development.]

[Yeah, he's actually sitting up straight at that - though he relaxes again not long afterwards, smirking broadly. He'll even cross his legs for good measure.]

Define "alter reality".

[He's unsure if you're baiting him because you have something in mind or just bragging. (He can certainly think of a few uses for something like that, himself....but now he needs to figure out what he can offer in exchange).]

[Well, he's mostly just putting it out there to increase his worth as a teammate. But he definitely can't say that he isn't bragging at all.]

Exactly how it sounds. There's no limit to what she can do. She could even transform the entire city of Goldenrod into a completely different place if she wanted to.

[Except we're not going to do that because it's way too early to cause an uproar.]

[...that's almost too easy. There has to be a catch. A Pokémon like that - possibilities like that -

A world without restrictions. Malik bites down mentally on his envy. Hard.]

I hope for your sake you're correct. In my experience, unlimited power usually comes with a catch.

However - that doesn't mean it isn't worth it.

I have yet to see any negative effects, but I suppose it's too soon to tell. I'll have to experiment with her abilities more and see what happens. Though, of course, there's still the fact that all illusions will wear off once she's been attacked, so she needs to keep herself from harm. That hasn't changed since her evolution. However, she usually conceals herself with said illusions, and I've taught her the move Protect, so that's rarely an issue.

But the fact remains you require a shield.

[He considers the situation, checking some texts (from Rocket NPCs) on the 'Gear and replying with instructions.]

Give her a partner. Fool others into believing that's the only one attacking. Something with strong defense, to lure their attention before she strikes.

--a Steel type, perhaps.

[What a coincidence! His starter's a Mawile!]

Hey, that's a good idea! I've got a level 89 Mawile that would be perfect for the job! I'll have to keep that in mind if it ever becomes necessary.

[Oops, sorry he kind of unintentionally rejected you there, Malik...]

I haven't really decided what to do with her yet, though, other than use her for small scale things like stealing Pokémon and concealing myself. With an ability like hers, there's just so many possibilities... It's hard to choose.

[---oh well. But at least he's shown he's worth consulting....]

I can imagine.

Best not to go all-out until absolutely necessary, as well. Flaunting one's weaponry rarely ends as planned.

[He's trying to figure out what he'd do in your position, specifically, as well....]

I don't think I'll need her at the moment, but if her abilities would be useful during later stages of the mission, then I will definitely put her to use.

[He glances outside the truck, realizing he's been so busy figuratively backseat driving, he's let the literal version slide.]

Clive is supposed to be doing something other than driving around aimlessly, isn't he.....

Oh, just... looking for good spots to make garbage piles...

[He was so high on the fact that fuck yeah he's driving a vehicle again and fuck yeah he has the best Pokémon ever that he completely lost focus there BUT HE'S GOING TO LOOK FOR REAL THIS TIME, HE IS THE MOST SRS ROCKET EVER REALLY!!!]

We could always heap it higher in slightly less populated areas. Fewer affected, but fewer complaints to the authorities.

[Is that permission to go wild on less trafficked roads? You be the judge.]

[That was almost embarrassingly obvious ego stroking, there.

Which hardly hinders his enjoyment of it.]

[He reaches over and turns up the music. Secret time: he kind of just wants to drive around in a big truck, too.]

Clive immediately gets to work on hitting up all those unpopulated streets, dumping huge piles of garbage everywhere. Now that he's actually focused on the job, nothing's going to stop him now!!]

Malik actually seems to relax, checking the Gear every so often but mostly just enjoying the ride.]

I suppose being so experienced here does raise one's level.
